We are a premium Mexican eatery, local food project, and community-based collective located in Australia's Subtropical Climate Zone of South East Queensland & Northern NSW.

We use fresh, seasonal produce to make authentic, really good Mexican food and drink.
OUR STORY
Our journey began in the local farmers markets of Southern Queensland. On a hot Saturday morning In January, we observed that vendors were going to great lengths to offer European vegetables, when our climate isn’t suited to them.
Our region is sub-tropical, with rich volcanic soil that offers up spectacular corn, limes, avocados and chillies. The Tweed Valley is much more like Mexico, than it is Manchester.

This planted the seed for a Mexican food concept that would sustainably source the very best produce that our local farmers can offer. But whilst we wanted our ingredients to be authentically local, we needed our recipes to be authentically mexicano. Speaking with the local Mexpat community they told us this was sadly missing – a restaurant that served up true Mexican cuisine, without trying to ‘translate’ it too much for the Australian palate.
COSTA TACO WAS BORN
Costa Taco - a community-driven, local produce food brand. Our first taco came off the grill at the Currumbin Community Markets in October 2020. Since then, we've partnered with Dust Temple and Alfred’s Apartment to host local pop-ups, before opening our first Taqueria in Palm Beach.

In December 2022 we opened our second location on Jonson St in Byron Bay.The response has been overwhelming, with Mexicans and Aussies alike driving from all over SE QLD and the Northern Rivers to try our fresh, authentic food.We hope you'll join us soon for a tasty taco & margarita!
